Privacy Policy

Who we are

HappyPartners is a macOS app developed by one independent developer. "We" in this policy refers to the developer. If anything here is unclear, email hello@happypartners.app.

What we collect

We collect as little as possible. Specifically only:

• Your email — only if you join the Beta waitlist. Used to send your License Key and essential updates. Never shared, sold, or used for marketing you weren't told about.
• License Key + machine identifier — when the app verifies your license, our server receives the authorization code and a hashed (one-way encrypted, cannot be reversed) machine identifier. This information is used solely to verify license validity and prevent a single License Key from being used on multiple devices without authorization.

Things we will never do

These commitments are core design principles of HappyPartners and will not change through policy updates:

• Your conversations with AI platforms stay on your Mac. They will never be sent to our servers. They are stored locally in ~/Library/Application Support/happy-partners/.
• We will never sell, trade, or share your data with third-party advertisers, marketers, or analytics companies.
• We will never change the purpose of data we've already collected without notifying you first.

Anonymous usage analytics

To understand which features are actually used and where the Beta gets stuck, we record a small number of anonymous events — such as session_start, license_activated, platform_dispatch, template_used, and error_occurred. The following strict conditions apply, without exception:

• Fully anonymous. Events are identified by a random ID generated on your Mac. This ID is never linked to your email, License Key, or machine identifier.
• Content is never collected. We record event names and feature flags only — never the text you type, the AI responses you receive, or the files you upload.
• Turn it off with one click. Settings → Privacy → Usage analytics. When off, nothing is sent.
• No third parties. Events go to our own Cloudflare Worker — no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Facebook pixel.

We still do not use heat maps, session replay, or crash-log uploads that include source code paths or memory dumps.

Third-party services

We use the minimum number of third-party services to make this work:

• Cloudflare — hosts this website and our License verification endpoint. Cloudflare sees basic request metadata (IP, user agent) as any CDN does.
• AI platform webviews — when you log into ChatGPT, Claude, etc. from inside the app, you're interacting with those companies directly under their own privacy policies. We are not a proxy. We don't see that traffic.

Data retention

We only retain your data for as long as needed for the purposes stated above:

• Beta waitlist emails — kept until the waitlist process ends or you request deletion.
• License verification records — kept for the duration of the license validity period plus a reasonable additional period, to prevent abuse and handle any license disputes.

Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect the data you provide — limiting access scope, avoiding collection of non-essential information, and retaining only the minimum data required for license verification.

Cookies

This website sets no tracking or advertising cookies. We use localStorage only to remember your language preference. That's it.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

• Tell you what data we hold on you (realistically: your email and license record).
• Delete your data.
• Correct anything that's wrong.
• Unsubscribe from product update emails (while keeping only the minimum records needed for license verification).

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes (new data we collect, new third parties) will be announced to Beta users by email.
